Market Sales Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:


The Market Sales Manager is responsible for the overall retail growth and profitability of a branch as well as overseeing and managing the performance of multiple Branch Managers in a particular geographical area within First Midwest Bank's branch distribution system.  The success of this position will be dependent upon the successful implementation and execution of branch sales plans, as well as growth within the specific markets to increase overall market share, as well as overseeing the communication and execution of company policies.  This position requires the capacity to lead others and the initiative to motivate a team, as well as teams of individuals.  This position will report directly to the Group Sales Manager.


Level of Responsibility:



  • Direct management of 4 or more assigned branches within a particular geographical area. 

  • Assist Group Sales Manager in leading and developing the team to ensure sales goals are obtained, as well as ensuring that market share is increasing and the corporate priorities are adhered to.

  • Assist Group Sales Manager in setting short and long-term sales strategies for the Branch Managers within the geographical area.



REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:



  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience required.

  • 6 (+) years banking experience preferably in Retail Banking

  • 4 (+) years in a leadership sales management role

  • Proven successful sales performance in leading multiple direct reports including multiple layers of management

  • Proven ability to creating a winning sales culture, drive a high level of employee engagement and create a win/win relationships with peers



  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

  • Position requires travel to branches and meeting locations

  • Subject to SAFE Act Registration Requirements



DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


Sales Leadership



  • Develop sales and marketing strategies to drive sales growth within assigned area

  • Provide innovative ideas and suggestions to improve the market presence

  • Consistently meet and exceed retail growth goals and customer satisfaction metrics



  • Ensure balanced distribution of achievement of growth goals across the area of responsibility

  • Communicate and monitor group and individual branch scorecards weekly and guide branch managers in developing market plans to achieve growth goals



  • Create effective sales campaigns, in addition to corporate wide campaigns, to supplement local market opportunities and drive elevated performance levels



  • Recognize and reward top perform performing colleagues by leveraging group, retail and corporate communications to create a positive culture of winning in the local markets

  • Lead the group sales team through conducting weekly sales meetings, 1x1 coaching, weekly branch visits and monthly scorecard evaluations.

  • Monitor and observe TAG meetings to ensure managers communicate effectively sales expectations, define daily activity objectives and create engagement with their teams.

  • Deliver sales and service initiatives to support the Bank's growth objectives while ensuring a superior client experience.

  • Ability to take on stretch assignments.


Sales Team Development



  • Responsible for obtaining profitable sales results through the team by developing the team through motivation, coaching, skills development, and product knowledge development.

  • Appreciate the contributions and accomplishments of sales employees through reward and recognition.

  • Build a successful management team and a sales culture among team members through setting clear and balanced expectations, inspiring and guiding others to go beyond expectations.

  • Ensure that the Branch Managers reporting up to this position are fully engaged in the On the Job Banking program and are achieving the specified goals for their branch.

  • Conduct weekly sales meetings, 1x1 coaching sessions, and timely performance evaluations to ensure managers have a clear view of performance and timely feedback.

  • Promote the sales culture by assessing the staff developmental needs in terms of skill building and training to achieve goals

  • Responsible for the selection of management personnel with corresponding training and development plans to ensure each manager has a personalized plan for success.

  • Evaluate employee needs and recommend training in identified areas.

  • Identify and develop high potential employees to be promoted to branch managers and area sales managers.

  • Understand, promote and create positive working relationships with all Lines of Business at the bank.

  • Set priorities, direction and delegate responsibilities within the group to drive consistent and long term sustainable results

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Risk Management



  • Participate in all required annual compliance courses

  • Implement bank-directed policy and changes relating to regulatory amendments

  • Responsible for personal and team timely completion of compliance and Employee Resources training.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
